Sensible World of Soccer

Sensible World of Soccer

Sensible Software, Renegade Software, Virgin Interactive Entertainment, Inc.

Sensible World of Soccer is an enhanced version of Sensible Soccer. Virtually every important soccer league in the world is included in this game, with some countries not only having premier / first division, but 2nd, 3rd, and more divisions. All important international competitions are also included (club- and national-team based). The game has a career mode, where you may play up to 20 seasons as player manager or manager only. During a career as a coach you're not tied to one club / national team, meaning if you're good enough one (or more) big clubs make offers to you to coach their team. All teams featured in this game have real players (names, strengths, weaknesses, etc.) from the 1994/1995 season. The management part of the game allows you to buy any of these players (which number 24,000 in total) if you have enough money and a free slot in your team. Besides the player manger career, you may play friendly matches, single season of any competition, and custom competitions, which can be made from scratch or based on a real one. Teams participating in these competitions can be chosen from any country. All the teams may be played by human player or computer. The DOS version is based on Amiga version 1.1 with the data of season 1995/1996. 1.1 adds the ability to switch between player-manager and manager-only status before each match of a career and improved on-pitch skills enhanced for the player teams. Also the athletes' statistics improve by consistent goal-scoring.

Smash Tennis

Smash Tennis

Namco, Virgin Interactive Entertainment, Inc.

Smash Tennis is a tennis game that was created by Namcot for the Super Nintendo in 1993. It was released in Europe as Smash Tennis by Virgin Interactive. A North American release of the game wouldn’t be seen until February 2020 where it would be part of the Nintendo Switch Online lineup. The controls of Smash Tennis work similar to other tennis games and especially Namco's previous tennis game World Court Tennis: the player moves the athlete over the court and presses buttons with the correct timing in order to win the match. This time there is no story mode, but a tournament mode instead. Here the goal is to win the Grand Slam by playing various tournament matches. However. a match only has a single set. There are 20 athletes (both male and female) to choose from which have different advantages and drawbacks.

Lone Soldier

Lone Soldier

Tempest Software, Telstar Electronic Studios Ltd., Virgin Interactive Entertainment, Inc.

The aliens have stolen a super missile and will not hesitate to use it unless we pay their ransom demand, which is a large amount of Uranium. You soldier, must enter the enemy zone and retrieve this missile by causing disruption among their troops and then taking out the alien scum. I must warn you that you will move very slow and your motions will appear sluggish. When ambushed by the enemy do not attempt to shoot back as you will probably die because the on-screen cross-hair will take an age to reach it's intended target. Oh, and soldier, do not attempt to shoot your weapon while running.... as it will not work. You will come across a number of vehicles which can be blown up with the rocket launcher that you will find during the game. Just one more thing soldier, if a tree or a bush suddenly pops up right in front of you do not worry, as they are only frequent glitches that spoil the gameplay. That's all soldier, do you have anything to say before you embark upon this suicide mission?

Dino Dini's Soccer

Dino Dini's Soccer

Virgin Interactive Entertainment, Inc.

Dino Dini's Soccer is a top-down football game for the Sega Mega Drive programmed by Dino Dini, the man behind the first two Kick Off games by Anco Games. It was only released in Europe. Dino Dini's Soccer is a retooled version of an earlier Amiga game, Goal!, sporting superior graphics and support for four players via Sega's Team Player peripheral. Though this has not been confirmed, it has been suggested that during development Dino Dini's Soccer was set to be a straight port of Goal! with no extra features (this being the situation with the SNES version, which despite its name, was not personally handled by Dino Dini like this Mega Drive release). An unconfirmed working title appears to have been Dino Dini's Goal!. As a spiritual sequel to Kick Off 2 (or Super Kick Off, as it appeared on the Mega Drive), Dino Dini's Soccer offers similar gameplay but with the addition of smarter AI, multiple cameras and improved presentation.

Cannon Fodder

Cannon Fodder

Sensible Software, Virgin Interactive Entertainment, Inc., Krisalis Software, The Hit Squad, Sold Out Sales & Marketing, Kuju Wireless Publishing, Codemasters

Cannon Fodder is an action-strategy shoot 'em up game developed by Sensible Software and published by Virgin Interactive. The game is military-themed and based on shooting action but with a strategy game-style control system. The player directs troops through numerous missions, battling enemy infantry, vehicles and installations. Cannon Fodder has a darkly humorous tone which commentators variously praised and condemned. Its creators intended it to convey an anti-war message, which some reviewers recognised, but the Daily Star and a number of public figures derided the game. In other respects, reviewers highly praised the game, which widely achieved scores of over 90% in Amiga magazines. Amiga Action awarded it an unprecedented score, calling it the best game of the year.
