Apogee Software

Dark Ages is a platform game written for MS-DOS, published by Apogee Software. It was the first shareware game to feature support for the AdLib sound card. Dark Ages was distributed as shareware. It consists of three episodes, with only the first episode playable in the shareware version. The episodes are: Prince of Destiny The Undead Kingdom Dungeons of Doom The game was released as freeware on March 20, 2009. Gameplay: Dark Ages is a side scrolling game where the player's alter ego, the prince, can move sideways, jump and shoot. Game play involves killing and avoiding enemies and jumping over obstacles. Progression to the next level often involves a hidden door, revealed by one of several Wise Men type characters after retrieving an item for them. The items include a key, a shield, and an apple. The player can use magic to fight the prince's enemies, starting out with a simple energy bolt and slowly gaining access to more destructive spells as the game progresses. There are three spells in the game: a blue bolt that flies straight forward, a boomerang that flies forward then returns allowing enemies to be hit twice, and a magic beam with a shorter range but can kill most enemies in one hit and can be fired in rapid succession.

Sweety Hunnybunz, the Singing Treacle Bear, has captured all the monsters of all video games everywhere and imprisoned them in patterns throughout his multiverse. With no monsters to fight, the heroes of these games are out of a job! But Yeet and Boik (with your help) can save the day! Each of the 150 worlds in the Hunnybunz multiverse is a new puzzle with elevators, multi-directional gravity and many different prizes. In the final battle you face sweety Hunnybunz himself, but, beware, for this treacle bear is no piece of cake! Boppin is a one or two player game, complete with a full featured, user friendly world/level editor to expand the game beyond your wildest dreams. Over 2,500 tile images are supplied, but not all are used in the supplied worlds, so truly new puzzles can be created.

Wolfenstein 3D is a first-person shooter presented with rudimentary 3D graphics and a follow-up to the top-down infiltration game Castle Wolfenstein. The game is broken up into levels, each of which is a flat plane divided into areas and rooms by a grid-based pattern of walls and doors, all of equal height. Each level is themed after Nazi bunkers and buildings. To finish a level, the player must traverse through the area to reach an elevator. Levels are grouped together into named episodes, with the final level focusing on a boss fight with a particularly difficult enemy. While traversing the levels, the player must fight Nazi guards and soldiers, dogs, and other enemies while managing supplies of ammunition and health. While later releases of the game included the Nocturnal Missions expansion, this initial release did not.
