Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams

Capcom Production Studio 2, Capcom

Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams is the sixth installment of Capcom's Onimusha series and the fourth game in the canonical main series. While the game retains the action elements from previous Onimusha titles, it offers a wider variety of weapons and the option to return to earlier stages to unlock new content. The game also introduces a 3D camera and the ability to continuously fight alongside AI-controlled characters that follow the player's orders. Capcom announced Dawn of Dreams in response to high fan demand and after several Capcom members realized they could expand Onimusha's action elements following their work on Shadow of Rome. The game was designed to appeal to skilled gamers rather than the general market, resulting in designs that prioritize appeal over realism.

Black Tiger

Black Tiger

Capcom, U.S. Gold

Black Tiger, known in Japan as Black Dragon, is a 1987 action game released for the arcades by Capcom. A barbarian hero jumps and fights his way through a variety of colourful, enemy-packed levels. The sprawling, eight-way scrolling, two-dimensional levels are packed with hidden bonuses to encourage and reward exploration. Though a percentage of these bonuses consist of dubious and often self-evident "advice", most come in the form of "Zenny coins", currency that allows the player to buy such items as an upgrade to their weapons and armour, keys for treasure chests, and anti-poisoning potions. Special items that reveal coins, upgraded armour, full vitality, extra lives, extra time, or simply bonus points may be found by attacking certain walls. The player's vitality bar will also increase up to three times as a reward for reaching score benchmarks.

Kabu Trader Shun

Kabu Trader Shun

Inti Creates, Capcom

Kabu Trader Shun is an adventure game centered on protagonist Shun Aiba, the son of a famous stock trader who bent bankrupt and disappeared five years earlier. With the help of his father's former trading partner, Toru Narasaki, and Toru's pupil, Hanako Kirikagura, Shun's goal is to become a successful trader like his father before him. The player takes on the role of Shun, whose goal is to make a large sum of money by purchasing and selling various stocks around a city. The player can further the plot by travelling to various locations, investing in new companies by buying stocks, and interacting with various characters. Stock trading takes place on a graph representing one or more stocks incurring profit or loss over the course of several days. The player can affect the direction of the graph by buying or selling at the correct time. The game's versus trade mode pits the player against rival stock traders in battles, where they must race to make the most amount of money over a period of time or reach a set profit mark. Both the player and opponent have a spirit meter that increases or decreases depending on how successfully one guide's their stock graph during a match. If a meter decreases too much, the player or opponent must recover before continuing to trade, potentially allowing the other to get ahead. Various special skills called Trading Arts can be learned and equipped to allow the player or their opponent to directly affect one another's spirit during battle.

Gun.Smoke

Gun.Smoke

Capcom, ProSoft, Topo Soft, GO!

Gun.Smoke is very similar to Commando, another Capcom game, but with several differences. Whereas Commando is a run and gun game, this game is a scrolling shooter in which the screen scrolls upward automatically and players only have three ways to shoot, using three buttons for left, right, and center shooting. However, a player can also change the way the gunman shoots through button combinations. A player can still die by getting shot or struck by enemies like in Commando but improve protection by getting special items, including a horse, for protection up to three hits; boots, for speed of movement; bullets, for faster shots; and rifles, for shot length. These items are found by shooting barrels and rifles, boots, and bullets can stock up to five. It was brought to the Sega Master System in South Korea without a license by Prosoft in 1990.

Mega Man Powered Up

Mega Man Powered Up

Capcom

Mega Man Powered Up, known as Rockman Rockman in Japan, is a remake of the first Mega Man game. It was released worldwide for the PlayStation Portable in March 2006. It was later released in a bundle alongside Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X and was slated for release on the PSP's PlayStation Network. It was released for the PlayStation Network service in Japan, but a US release did not occur due to technical difficulties. The game uses a chibi-style that was intended for the original game but was not possible at the time. The designers intended to keep this design faithful to the way the characters worked and looked in the original. While it received generally positive reviews, the game sold poorly, and plans for a remake of Mega Man 2 titled Mega Man Powered Up 2 fell through.
